Bluegrass FLS Hammond is a 353.9 acre typical flat woods grove located in Ft. Pierce, Florida with approximately 100% uplands. Low-volume micro-sprinkler with surface irrigation water from canals maintained by Orange Avenue Citrus Growers Association, Inc (OACGA) Ashland District. Water is pumped through a diesel engine powered centrifugal pumps with fertigation capability. Bluegrass FLS Hammond is one of several included in a larger portfolio of 11,100.9 ± acres spanning across DeSoto, St. Lucie, and Indian River Counties.
The grove was originally planted in 1986 with a variety of oranges and grapefruit. The original trees were planted at a variety of settings such as 12.5 x 22.5 (155 tpa), 15 x 20 (145 tpa), and 17 x 20 (128 tpa). The original rootstocks were Sour Orange and subsequent planting included Swingle, US 897, and Carrizo. Current varieties include 533 acres Ruby Grapefruit, 12 acres Hamlins, 87 acres Star Grapefruit, 32 acres Ray Grapefruit, and 7.8 acres Navels. Bluegrass FLS Hammond is a turn-key grove and provides a good foundation for income production with long term appreciation.
